Border Dialogue Conference

The Norwegian Barents Secretariat invites you to attend the Barents Border Dialogue Conference in Kirkenes on the 6-7 February 2014. The event will be devoted to practical and theoretical attention to the field of cross-border statistical cooperation, data visualization and data journalism in the Barents Region.

The event will be attended by journalists, data visualizers and statisticians, as well analysts and policymakers, from the four Barents countries Norway, Russia, Finland, Sweden, and beyond. The event will devote practical and theoretical attention to the field of cross-border statistical cooperation, data visualization and data journalism in the Barents Region.

In a rapidly changing Arctic, key decision-makers on national and local level are increasingly confronted with a need for enhanced accessibility to reliable, comparative and compiled data about regional developments. How can statisticians, information workers and journalists take on this challenge?

During the event, we would like to explore the ways data journalism can be used as information tool in Arctic cross-border cooperation. We believe data journalism increasingly is a tool of relevance for journalists, bloggers and other reporters and would like to help strengthen this kind of journalism in the Barents Region.

The program will have a practical-oriented approach and include meetings and workshops for the event target groups.

The Barents Border Dialogue Conference is looking forward to bridge the interests of two key stakeholder groups in the field of statistical data; on the one hand, the data-producing statistical authorities and on the other, the data-consuming data visualizers and data journalists.

We will be happy if you and your colleagues have the opportunity to attend this event, which will take place in the town of Kirkenes, Norway. So we invite journalists from Norway, Finland and Sweden to The Barents Border Dialogue Conference!

More information about the conference, including agenda and the program will be provided shortly.
